“The coastlands saw it and feared,
The ends of the earth were afraid;
They drew near and came.”
It all began at the beginning of the year when Avi was approached by leaders from the distant islands of the Pacific about having a conference in Israel. These leaders felt that 2017 was a very significant year in the timeline of the history of Israel for the following reasons:
50 years since the reunification of Jerusalem as a city
The Year of Jubilee
100 years since the signing of the Balfour Declaration
70 years since the UN resolution that approved the establishment of a Jewish state.
Little did we know at the time that it would also be the year that President Trump would announce that the US Embassy would be moving to the capital of Israel, Jerusalem!
Upon listening to their vision, Avi told them that if they wanted to have a conference that this was great and continued to bless them to hold such a conference. However, they then explained that the vision was not to have just another conference in Israel but, that the conference would only happen if the local believing body in Israel agreed and more than this that they wanted them (the local believers of Israel) to lead it.
Now, this caught Avi’s attention!
There are hundreds of conferences held in Israel every year by Christians, for Christians, but never have they asked for permission or leadership by the local body of Messiah in the land. This was something very different than anything ever presented before. Soon, a meeting was held between the leaders of the Pacific and a group of local Israeli believers in which the following vision was laid out:
“In our generation, these prophecies of the Great Commission are being fulfilled. The Gospel has reached to the distant islands of the Pacific, exactly on the other side of the globe from Jerusalem. And now, peoples from every tribe, tongue, and nation are desiring to bring the Good News and the Glory back to Jerusalem—all in preparation for His glorious return!”
Wow, how amazing and exciting. The leaders from the Pacific were emphatic about one detail. This conference MUST be lead by the Israeli people because Israel is not the homeland of the Pacific people and they felt it would be inappropriate to welcome the King of Glory to Israel without the permission of the local body in Israel. At first, the local Israeli leaders were taken aback by such a request. “Since when did anybody ask for permission?” they thought.
After much thought and prayer, it was decided that “YES!” the local believers would be on board and so the “Welcome the King of Glory Conference” was born.
The Enemy at Work…
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
The prospect of believers from the nations coming back to Israel to declare that Yeshua is Lord undoubtedly made the enemy quite angry. We felt this almost immediately on both a physical and spiritual level. It was as if as soon as we said “yes”, the enemy threw all that he had at us to try and stop this conference. From physical sickness, spiritual oppression, never-ending technical issues, financial challenges and so much more, we felt the weight on our shoulders. On more than one occasion we were tempted to delay or cancel the conference. It would have been so easy to just put our hands up in defeat. However, we knew God had a plan and that if God says, “go”, then we go, no matter how things look in the physical realm.
Welcoming the King of Glory
Imagine walking into an auditorium filled with over 1,000 people from the nations and from Israel together worshiping the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. You would see flags from every nation, people speaking in various languages, and people dressed in their traditional tribal garments. To see all of this happening was truly breathtaking. And for what purpose was this taking place? There was only one, to Welcome the King of Glory!
The four days of the “Welcoming the King of Glory” conference were a little taste of heaven. People from many tongues, tribes, and nations, came together, and in once voice cried out, “Yes, God we love the people of Israel, we accept them as our big brother, and now together we ask that You pour out Your Spirit on a dry and thirsty land!” It was so beautiful to see the laughter, the tears, and the fervency with which everybody cried out to God. And in spite of the various language barriers, it was evident that we were all in unity with the Spirit!
There is no doubt that a sweet fragrance was raised up before the Lord during these days. We believe that we are on the cusp of a new season in which the Glory of the Lord will be residing upon His Body worldwide as proclaimed in Isaiah 60.
“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”
We also believe that this will mark a new season of God’s presence among His people in Israel, and the beginning of a season of the fulfillment of many end times’ events. What happened at this conference was just the beginning of something much greater. We will continue to welcome the King of Glory and believe that He will move mightily in this land so that no one will be able to say “it was I who did this” but rather, “How great is our God and how worthy to be praised!”
