Discerning the Times

Discerning the Times

By Avi Mizrachidisceringtimes

In the book of Matthew, Yeshua tells the Pharisees and Sadducees, “You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you
cannot discern the signs of the times,” (Matt. 16:3).

He tells them so, because they tested Him by asking him to show them a sign from Heaven!

He continues in verse 4 saying, “No sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.”  Who did Jonah run away from? To which city did he run? Where did he spend three days and three nights?

We know from reading the whole story that Jonah was running from his calling to carry God’s message to a Gentile people (Nineveh). However, instead of heading northeast to Nineveh, Jonah went west to the port city of Jaffa (Tel Aviv) to catch a boat going west. Little did he know, God called a big fish to assist Jonah on his mission.

It is written that the sons of Issachar discerned the times and knew what to do!

“from Issachar, men who understood the times and knew what Israel should do”

            1 Chronicles 12:32

Do you, as a true disciple of Yeshua, know and discern the times in which we live today? Or, do you need a “Jonah” experience to wake you up to the calling to which God has called you?

It was Simon Peter (Son of Jonah) who after receiving a revelation from God said to Yeshua. “You are the Messiah (Anointed One), the Son of the Living God! (Matthew 16:16-17).

It was also Simon Peter who received the vision three times in the City of Jaffa to go to the Gentiles, to Cornelius, an Italian Captain living in Caesarea (Acts 10). Until then the Congregation in Jerusalem was exclusively Jewish.

It was Simon Peter, the Jewish Apostle, that received the full revelation that, “You should not call any man unclean” and “preaching peace through Yeshua the Messiah- He is Lord of All” (Acts 10:28,36).

The Gospel has gone from Jerusalem to Lydia (Lod) to Jaffa (Tel-Aviv) and then to the uttermost parts of the world.

After almost 2000 years the Jewish people have returned back to their homeland Israel. This return fulfilled the prophecies prophesied by the Prophet Ezekiel (Ezekiel 36).

And now, as we live in these prophetic times, the Good News is returning to Israel from the nations thru the gate city Jaffa (Tel Aviv), up to the Judean Mountains, and on to Jerusalem, the eternal city of our great King.

As believing Christians from the nations:

  • Are you called according to His purpose? (Romans 8:28)
  • Are you following the call to provoke the Jews to Jealousy? (Romans 11:11)
  • Are you ashamed of the Gospel (Romans 1:16-For the Jew first)?

More than ever we see the Harvest in the land of Israel ready!

We are so thankful for your prayer and support and we ask that you would continue to agree with us in prayer as we labor to fulfill the great commission in Tel Aviv.

  • Pray with us that the Lord will send more laborers to our field (Tel Aviv-Jaffa).
  • Pray, and ask God how you can support Dugit Outreach Center in downtown Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
  • Pray and ask God to move mightily among the local body of believers in our City.

Blessings in Messiah,

Avi Signature
